Long-lasting home defense

Robbinsville – Any reservations about playing on a day’s rest were quickly swatted away. The junior varsity Black Knights (3-1) struck early and often in their second game in three days March 24, pummeling the visiting Hayesville Yellow Jackets 68-0.

Fancy Feast

Robbinsville – In a season full of ultra-rarities, a Monday afternoon junior varsity football game in the spring might take the cake. But in the face of the unusual hand they were dealt, the Robbinsville Black Knights laid down a royal flush.

JV Knights fall in second half

Murphy – Though the Knights struck first, they did not strike often enough. Robbinsville (1-1) entered halftime of the March 4 road game at Murphy in a 0-0 deadlock, the result of excellent defense from both programs.

Strong defense gives JV opener to Knights

Cherokee – There was no getting past the Robbinsville defense, and there was no stopping the Robbinsville offense. In the junior varsity season opener Feb. 25, the Black Knights traveled to Cherokee and held the Braves to just 60 total yards in a 56-6 trouncing.

JV Knights finish 5-1

Robbinsville – Another successful junior varsity football season wrapped up in resounding fashion Oct. 17. Hosting the Rosman Tigers, Robbinsville (5-1) scored almost at-will in the 2019 finale, recording a convincing 62-0 victory.

JV Knights suffer first loss

Andrews – Lost fumbles and missed opportunities led to the junior varsity Black Knights’ first loss of the season. Robbinsville (2-1) traveled to Andrews (4-0) on Sept. 26 for a showdown between the only two undefeated JV teams left in the Smoky Mountain Conference.

1st in the state is great

Robbinsville – It took the MaxPreps algorithm five weeks to calculate what Lady Knights volleyball already knew: Robbinsville is the team to beat in 1A.

Streak: Over

Robbinsville – Wren Millsaps waited a long time for it. As a player, he never won a game against Murphy. As a coach, he had never won a game against Murphy. That all changed on Sept. 12, as the Millsaps-led JV Black Knights (2-0) stunned the Bulldogs 48-30.
