Municipal races finalized

A total of 20 local residents threw their names in the hat for the 2025 municipal elections.  The filing period closed at noon Friday, with the following candidates emerging as contenders for the Nov. 4 ballot.

Settlement reached on town sanitation bill

Robbinsville – A settlement regarding a sanitation bill in excess of $23,000 has been finalized. At June 17's Graham County Board of Commissioners meeting, county manager Brady Cody presented a May invoice for Robbinsville's past-due amount of $23,914.80.

Mayor challenges key policy

Robbinsville – Citing a need for immediate access to the office's printer, Mayor Shaun Adams has now openly questioned why he does not have a key to the main lobby of Robbinsville Town Hall.

Robbinsville flooded with water improvements

Robbinsville – Work is in the immediate pipeline to enhance multiple segments of the town’s water and sewer network. How immediate? Dirt will be lifted as soon as Monday, March 10, on an overhaul off Old Sweetwater Road to replace 4,000 lineal feet of 6-inch pipe and 300 feet of 2-inch water lines.

Town doubling down on water cutoffs

Robbinsville – Leniency will soon go out the window. While discussing the Town of Robbinsville’s planned 2024-25 fiscal budget at a special-called meeting Tuesday, town clerk Amanda Gyongyos revealed that water/sewer customers in the municipality have a combined $24,000 in past due balances.

Town lawsuit dismissed ... again

Robbinsville – Former Town of Robbinsville Interim Finance Officer Micheal Richardson’s small claim case against the Town of Robbinsville was dismissed without prejudice on Friday. Originally, Richardson sued Robbinsville Town Aldermen Debbie Beasley and Kenneth Hyde individually.
