Permit fees set for alcohol sales

Robbinsville – If local businesses wish to hold a special event with alcohol included, they must pay the Town of Robbinsville $50 for a permit. At the municipality’s board of aldermen meeting Dec. 8, it was noted that Andrews’ price was $25 and Cherokee’s price was $75 for the same permit.

Aldermen take no action on shutoff ordinance

Robbinsville – One local municipality took no action on changing the town’s water shutoff rules, following a disagreement at its October meeting.  At its Nov. 3 regular meeting, the Town of Robbinsville Board of Aldermen discussed the water and sewer shutoff code of ordinance.

Town aldermen approve part purchase for water plant

Robbinsville – A component of one of Robbinsville’s water plants will be replaced, following approval from the board of aldermen.  The board approved the purchase of a new altimeter valve for the plant by a 2-0 vote at a brief, special-called meeting on Sept. 16.

Town aldermen approve Huddle House annexation

Robbinsville – A new piece of land now belongs to the Town of Robbinsville.  Following a public hearing at its Sept. 1 meeting, the board unanimously approved annexing the land on which the now-closed Huddle House restaurant is located.

Adams files for mayoral race

The race for Robbinsville mayor just went from solo to opposed. Incumbent Steve Hooper was the first Graham County candidate to file for the 2021 municipal election, submitting his paperwork July 6.

Adams returns to meeting

Robbinsville – For the first time since March 4, 2020, Alderman Shaun Adams attended a meeting. Adams was in-person at the June 2 meeting, marking the end of a nearly 16-month sabbatical. During that time, Adams was absent for 18 board meetings and two budget sessions.

Town unanimously approves Robbinsville budget

Robbinsville – One local Board of Aldermen unanimously approved its 2021-22 budget last week. The budget was approved after a public hearing during the Town of Robbinsville’s regular meeting June 2, after first being presented in draft form on May 19.

Aldermen take steps toward murals; appoint new RTA member

Robbinsville – A pair of new murals were a hot topic at March 3’s Town of Robbinsville Board of Aldermen meeting, following a presentation by REVVED UP founder John Colwell.  Colwell presented two possible murals for the town, including an abstract mountain scene on the Lovelace building.
