FAFSA completion day scheduled for regional students

Murphy – Anyone in the area needing to fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – in preparation for college – will have an opportunity to get help doing so Saturday, at a Tri-County completion day held by advisors from the Appalachian College Advising Corps.

Robbinsville – We are collectively living through a part of history that has unfortunately robbed students of many normal school activities. Yearly traditions – such as prom and pep rallies – have fell to the wayside, victims of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

Robbinsville – Home course advantage aside, the Black Knights’ varsity performance at the Currahee Classic turned heads across the Smoky Mountain Conference.

Reporting for duty

Robbinsville – Two new members were sworn in at the last Graham County Board of Education meeting of the year, which was held Tuesday.
Due to rain, last year’s Trunk-or-Treat event had to be moved inside the Robbinsville Elementary School gymnasium. Though the 2020 installment will be held outdoors, COVID-19 protocols will see people spread much further apart than last year.

Robbinsville – After going through a proverbial roller-coaster of planning, the annual Trunk-or-Treat event will take place from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at Robbinsville High School.

Goodbye, Papa George

Robbinsville – Without George Oliver, who knows where the Robbinsville High School wrestling program would be today? Oliver – who, along with Gary Steppe, instituted the now-powerhouse Black Knights grappling team 45 years ago – passed away Aug. 5 at age 68.
