2 unhurt when SUV crashes at cemetery

Lake Santeetlah – Two people escaped fairly unscathed after their vehicle skidded off the road, crashed through a guard rail and stop sign, ran down an embankment and knocked down gravestones at Lone Oak Cemetery before crashing into a tree.

Michael Ray Driver, 37 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home on Tuesday Dec. 6, 2022. He was born in Cherokee, N.C., on Aug. 22, 1985. Michael is survived by his loving mother, Lois Chekelelee of Robbinsville, N.C.

Della Campbell

Della Campbell, 93 of the West Fort Hill community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Macon County, and the daughter of the late Amos and Flossie Mason Grant.

Vacancies upcoming at Robbinsville Town Hall

Robbinsville – The town’s elected leaders are now looking to fill two key positions in Town Hall, with Shari Birchfield – the Town of Robbinsville’s interim finance officer and deputy clerk – set to retire in late January 2023. The Board of Aldermen will hold a special called meeting at 10 a.m.

Robbinsville – The Year of the Trail in North Carolina will be in 2023 and Graham County plays a prominent part. Why? Here are some examples: * Appalachian Trail: The trail extends about 2,200 miles from Springer Mountain, Ga., to Mount Katahdin in Maine, of which Graham County has 22 miles.

Robbinsville – Amid controversy over whether the Graham County Public Health Department should be dispensing emergency contraceptives, another controversy simmers.
