Graham County wins big at fair

Fletcher – The 2022 installment of the N.C. Mountain State Fair was kind to both individuals and organizations from Graham County. The annual showcase was held at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher (an Asheville suburb) from Sept. 9-18.

An udder necessity

Tuskegee – Taking care of any animal can be a huge responsibility, and is not for everyone.  For two Tuskegee girls, however, the challenge is welcomed.  Lilly and Abby Lancaster – both 15 years old – work at Double 00 Farms, taking care of the many animals who call the farm home. Through the N.C.

Local pigs help preserve rare breed

Tuskegee – What do the Large Black pig, the Leghorn Chicken and the Cleveland Bay horse have in common?  All three are examples of heritage breeds, animals that thrived on small farms until industrialized agriculture pushed them to near-extinction.
