* The Tail of the Dragon would be straightened out if environmentalists have their way. However, Daniel Droitsch of the Tennessee Clean Water Network said, “The environmental community would be very, very, very opposed to straightening the road.”
* The Black Knights dominated the Andrews Wildcats, 46-6. Andrews took the opening kickoff, but went 3-and-out. The Knights took the ensuing punt and drove methodically down the field, scoring on a 16-yard pass from Dusty Anderson to Ty Gibbs. Andrews quarterback Roman Bailey scored the only touchdown for the Cats.

* Terrence Wright was granted a change of venue for his third trial involving the murder of Hoover Williams. Wright, 26, was convicted of first-degree burglary in connection with the 1993 slaying of Williams. Wright had also been charged with the murder of Jennifer Denham in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Sources in the sheriff’s office said that similarities between the two cases were evident, including the number of stabs: 32.
* The Robbinsville Lady Knights played a tough volleyball game against the Andrews Wildcats. During the match, the Lady Knights continuously gained points for easy wins. The Lady Knights later won the match when Krissy Williams served and Andrews hit the ball out, making for a match-clinching victory in favor of the Knights, 15-12.

* This year’s homecoming festivities was set to begin with a parade and the theme, ”The Best of Times.” Many floats were to be judged. The homecoming court consisted of seniors Lori Adams, Jennifer Brunt, Rachel Davis, Crystal Patterson and Debra Long; juniors Shawndee Irons, Christy MacMonigle, Monica Shuler, Diane Adams and Lorae Carver; and freshman Kelly Phillips.
* Robbinsville fought hard but was no match for the Franklin Panthers, as the Black Knights fell 12-0. Robbinsville kicked off and Franklin took the ball to Robbinsville’s 27-yard line in seven plays. The Panthers later stopped quarterback Charles Ray Edwards just short of the first down on Franklin’s 39-yard line and refused to relent from there.
