* Property-tax evaluations were underway. Salisbury-based R.G. Rowland Appraisals was hired for the task, which was set to begin in the Thunderbird/Yellow Creek section of Graham County; continue to Stecoah; and finish in Cheoah.
* The Lady Knights defeated Hayesville on the softball diamond, 8-2. Lori Adams, Miriam Adams, Kelly Brock, Traci Crisp, April Holder, Sharon Millsaps and Holly Rogers each turned in a multi-hit game for Robbinsville. The Lady Jackets did all of their damage in the top of the first.
April 17, 1980
* Gladys and H.A. Jenkins were featured on the front page for celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. A party was held at the Tapoco Community Building. Justice of the Peace J.N. Higdon married the couple March 30, 1930, at the Cheoah Power House.
* The Black Knights dropped a pair of Smoky Mountain Conference baseball games to Andrews and Hayesville. The Wildcats picked up a 9-1 win, while the Yellow Jackets prevailed 15-4. Randy Moody doubled home Scott Odom for Robbinsville's lone run in the seventh inning against Andrews. Against Hayesville, Moody tripled home Odom in the second; Kevin Waldroup sprinted across the dish on an Odom hit in the sixth; and Lamar Shuler connected for a seventh-inning single to drive in Phillip Buchanan. Ricky Stiles later scored the final Knights run of the evening.
April 17, 1970
* Joe Carver retired from his post as assistant clerk of court and was replaced by Charles Holloway. Graham County Clerk of Court O.W. Hooper, Jr., stated that Carver was "very efficient and dependable" during his three years as his assistant. Hooper also expressed optimism about Holloway, believing he would "serve the people of Graham County with the same interest" as Carver.
* Rebounding from an 0-3 start to the season, the Black Knights defeated Andrews on their home field, 13-6. Charles George had a triple and three RBIs in the victory, while Ricky Williams doubled and recorded three RBIs of his own. Jacob Jackson also had a triple in the win.
