Oct. 17, 1996

* Robbinsville fell to the No. 1-ranked Murphy Bulldogs, 36-12. Brian Gross had a first-quarter touchdown for the Knights, while Murphy’s David Badger split the uprights twice to send the game into the second in a 6-6 deadlock. Badger completed the field-goal hat trick in the second, while Jonathan Collins scored on a 32-yard dash that opened a 16-6 halftime lead for the Dogs. Gross found his way back into the end zone on a 1-yard push late in the third, but Murphy pulled away with a 20-0 fourth – thanks to three rushing touchdowns from Jeremel Sudderth. Tim Silvers led Robbinsville’s defense with 11 tackles, while both Trevor Peterson and Mark Webster each recorded a sack. Eugene Wachacha also snagged an interception.

Oct. 17, 1991

* The Black Knights buzzed the Hayesville Yellow Jackets, 33-12. Travis McCracken kickstarted the fun with a 24-yard scoring sprint just two minutes into the game. Chris Rumfelt helped lead the Jackets to a 5-yard touchdown response, but a failed PAT left Robbinsville with a 7-6 advantage. McCracken struck again on a 50-yard sprint, before Michael Shuler added to the tally with back-to-back touchdowns in the second and third. Phillip Wachacha – who was 2-for-4 on PATs – rounded out the Knights’ attack with a 1-yard plunge in the fourth. Jason Shook scored a late, 24-yard touchdown for Hayesville. McCracken finished with 148 rushing yards on 22 carries, as well as a team-best 11 tackles and a fumble recovery. Ryan Oliver also scooped up a loose ball.

Oct. 17, 1985

* Robbinsville blew by the Cullowhee Rebels, 36-0. Quarterback Charles Ray Edwards scored a pair of touchdowns for the Black Knights, while Roy Peterson struck for a 6-yard score in the second. David Phillips and Tom Barlow each reeled in an interception during the first half, with Barlow also tacking on a pair of 2-point conversion passes: one to Darrin Self and the other to Peterson. Chris Adams weaved to the end zone on a 3-yard run in the third and Eric Crisp later fired a scoring missile to Shane Bowman in the fourth.
