* Skyler Matheson was the difference maker in Robbinsville’s 43-37 win over Rosman. Subbing for injured quarterback Dakota Crisp, Matheson had three rushing touchdowns and also led the defense with 12 tackles. He finished with 314 yards on 18 carries, including the game-clinching keeper with less than two minutes to go. Lane Millsaps also returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown in the game, while Cruz Galaviz found the end zone twice for the Knights.

* The Knights clinched the program’s first Smoky Mountain Conference title, besting Murphy 20-12. Robbinsville trailed the Bulldogs 12-0 at halftime, but sparked a rally thanks to a pair of rushing touchdowns – as well as a conversion run – from Teddy Phillips, which pushed the Knights ahead 14-12. Robbinsville sealed the deal with 6:14 left in the game, when Phillips connected with Ricky Orr on a scoring pass.

* A trip to Rabun County, Ga., resulted in a 34-14 Black Knights victory. Mark Manuel launched four touchdown passes for Robbinsville, including the first play from scrimmage: a 69-yard bomb to Dale Walsh. Walsh reeled in all four scoring receptions, posting a 65-yard catch in the second; a 55-yarder in the third; and a 72-yard pass with 36 seconds left in the affair. Manuel also crept across the goal line in the second for a rushing touchdown; and connected with Lowell Snider for a conversion pass moments later. Manuel finished 7-of-12 in the air, with 331 passing yards. Ronnie Waldroup had a rushing conversion before the break, as well.
