Sept. 11, 1986

* Robbinsville fell 25-6 to Sylva-Webster. The Knights' lone touchdown came in the second quarter, when Eric Crisp scooped up a fumble and returned the ball 38 yards – trimming the Eagles' advantage at that moment to 10-6. Update: The game was just the second with Dee Walsh as head coach. Walsh retired after his second stint as Robbinsville's head coach last season.

Sept. 4, 1980

* Fresh off winning the 1979 1A state championship, Robbinsville handed Swain County – the 1979 2A winners – a 46-20 defeat in Bryson City. Ricky Stiles had three touchdowns in the victory and finished with 200 rushing yards, while Lamar Shuler recorded 106 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Knights had not beaten the Maroon Devils since 1977 and the loss snapped a 15-game winning streak for Swain County.

Sept. 4, 1970

* The Black Knights kicked off their season in dominant fashion, routing the visiting Andrews Wildcats 39-0. Robbinsville quarterback Mark Manuel had four touchdown passes and finished with 244 yards in the air, while also joining the collaboration of Ronnie Waldroup, Jacob Jackson, David Jordan and Larry Sawyer in compiling 272 rushing yards.
