Cooper, state lawmakers announce deal to re-open schools

By David Bass Carolina Journal News Service Raleigh — Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper and Republican lawmakers have reached an agreement on reopening public schools for in-person instruction under a compromise plan that returns most decision-making autonomy to local school boards.

New stadium lights tabled

Robbinsville – After some discussion in a special meeting Friday, the Graham County Board of Commissioners has tabled discussion on purchasing new lights for the Robbinsville High School football field, pending more information.

Robbinsville – "You just sort of know when it's time to move on." Carolyn Stewart joined the ranks of Graham County's Register of Deeds office in 1987 and was elected to the head position in 1998, a post she has held without interruption since.

Tourism authority narrows down potential new members

Robbinsville – The Robbinsville Travel and Tourism Authority has taken its next steps in appointing a new member to replace Alderman Shaun Adams, who officially stepped down in January.  At its regular meeting Tuesday, the board narrowed town its top three choices to fill the seat.
