Difference between knowledge, facts

It’s been said that you’ll be the same person in five years you are today, except for the people you meet and books you read. Consequently, we ought not to only read books we agree with. I was recently challenged by ideas in Tom Nichols’ The Death of Expertise.

The meaning behind ‘pastor'

“Hello pastor.” This is a simple greeting and one I appreciate yet behind these words are a story. Being a pastor is a fascinating calling. It is very complex and as one student told me it is one of the last generalist professions. It is a spiritual calling and not to be entered into lightly.

Churches back on the rise in county

Are things back to the way they were before COVID in the churches of Graham County? One good sign is the return of Vacation Bible School. A number of churches held exciting Bible schools this summer. From dinosaurs, Daniel’s Courage, trains and spaceships, the themes abounded.

County late in getting post office

Like many other improvements such as roads and electricity, Graham County was behind much of the country in getting a post office.  Even though there was a mail service of sorts in 1692 in parts of America – and the establishment of the U.S.

Gideons camp meets monthly

Did you know that Graham County has a Gideons International Camp? The Gideons recently held their annual pastors’ breakfast and it was one of the best breakfasts around.
