From staff reports Brasstown – On Sunday, the Brasstown Concert Association will present musician/ singer/songwriter Elise Witt with the band Mezzanine (Mick Kinney and Don Erdman). An Atlanta resident since 1977, Witt was born in Switzerland and raised in North Carolina.

Highlands – It is an all-too-familiar scenario: the Robbinsville Black Knights, involved in another nailbiter. During Wednesday, Jan. 22’s make-up game at Highlands, the Knights (1-14, 0-8) found themselves in a 58-58 deadlock with the Highlanders (7-13, 2-2) in the closing seconds of regulation.

Andrews – I was walking down the hill to visit my horses and was about to cross the road Wednesday, Jan. 22, when a white Volkswagen came around the bend and into the short straightaway, going so fast it was wagging back and forth across the asphalt, passing by me completely in the wrong lane.

Arson detection team visits Graham library

Robbinsville – A very special guest visited the Graham County Public Library on Monday, to help educate members of the 4-H Club during their first meeting of the year.  This visitor detects chemicals from two miles away, helps put arsonists in jail and once proved the FBI wrong.

Hayesville – For the first time since 2014, Robbinsville can lay claim to the Smoky Mountain Conference Middle School Title. A 43-41 win over the Hiwassee Dam/Ranger Eagles (No. 3 West seed) Jan. 23 in Hayesville secured the Black Knights’ basketball bragging rights.
