Stecoah – Nostalgia filled the air both inside and outdoors Saturday, as friends, family and former school employees gathered to celebrate a century of community.

N.C. Forest Service Ranger Frank Cline and Smokey the Bear were on-hand for Saturday's SpringFest. Stecoah – Visitors did not let the rain spoil their plans to attend this year’s Smoky Mountain SpringFest, which was held Saturday at the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center.

Brush fire follows snowfall

Tuskeegee – As an example of how quickly mountain weather can change, locals experienced snowfall and a brush fire in the same week. Graham County 911 was notified of a brush fire near Whiteside Gap Road in the Lower Sawyers Creek area around 1:20 p.m., Jan. 15.

Robbinsville – After 13 ½ long years, justice has finally been served. A jury found 47-year-old Stecoah resident Michael Lee White guilty of felony first-degree sex offense with a child May 8, following an abbreviated trial in Graham County Superior Court.

Stecoah – Anywhere you looked, you could find reminders of a bygone era. The 24th Annual Stecoah Harvest Festival was enjoyed by an estimated 2,500 visitors, who had plenty of options to choose from once they entered the grounds at the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center.
