Andrews

Read between the lines

Andrews – Take one look at Robbinsville’s win/loss record and on paper, it looks like a night off for opponents. But how foolish it would be to take the Black Knights (1-11, 0-6) lightly, as the group is clicking and becoming a dangerous foe as the second-half of the season dawns.

Knights mow down division

Robbinsville – Amidst a hectic week – filled with conference matches aplenty – Robbinsville wrestling rose to the occasion. The Knights disposed of Murphy 74-6 and Hayesville 60-17 in a Cherokee County tri-match Jan. 9, before traveling to Rosman and downing the Tigers 75-6.

Monday Knight delight

Robbinsville – On Hall of Fame night, Robbinsville put on a display that will be discussed for years to come. A much-hyped showdown with the Swain County Maroon Devils (7-2) proved to be a lopsided affair, as the Black Knights (9-0) controlled both sides of the ball in a resounding 43-6 victory.

New Orleans not only one with questionable work ethics

In New Orleans, where I lived for 15 years, people complain about sloth and ineptitude, but you know what New Orleans can deliver super quick and with no problem at all?  A new roof.

'There was smoke everywhere'

Most of us are in no danger of forgetting the events of 9/11 or the victims, heroes, and survivors of those attacks.  Yet there are smaller, quieter stories that can resonate, as well.  Robbinsville’s Julie Hancock and Andrews’ Michael Neal both experienced the attacks in different ways.

Robbinsville – Corridor K may eventually happen, but it will not be the one that was imagined some 50 years ago, when discussions to build it first began. The beginning of construction on the project was recently moved up to 2026.
