Middle school baseball underway

Robbinsville – The middle school Knights baseball program has already squeezed in seven games in this short season. The Black Knights (1-6) downed Cherokee 14-2 in an April 22 road affair, but dropped home games to Swain County (20-8, April 19) and Rosman (14-2, April 27).

Lady Knights fall in first round of playoffs

Robbinsville – Things certainly did not go to plan. After compiling a 13-win season, winning the Smoky Mountain Conference for the fourth straight season and clinching a No. 2 seed in the 1A postseason bracket, the Lady Knights held all the cards.

Raymond Williams, Sr.

Raymond David Williams Sr., 72 of the Fort Hill Community in Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Friday, May 7, 2021 at his residence. He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Leonard Williams and Zelma Lee Jenkins Rogers.

Justin Jones

Justin W. Jones, 73 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021, at his residence. A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Wayne and Louise Crisp Jones.

Evan Norris

Evan Thomas Norris, Jr., 62, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Valley View Nursing Center in Andrews, N.C. A native of Florida, he was the son of the late Evan Thomas Norris, Sr. and the late Alice Irene Widner.

Betty Damelio

Betty Sawyer Damelio, 80 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Hayesville House Memory Care and Assisted Living in Hayesville, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Coil Sawyer and Mary Turpin Sawyer Crisp.

Brenda Jackson

Brenda Adkins Jackson, 51 of the Moose Branch Community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at her residence. She was a native of Huntington, W. Va. and the daughter of the late Jack Adkins and Martha Smoke Adkins.

Knights drop first two games

Murphy – For a moment, Robbinsville was in the driver’s seat. Starting pitcher Jeb Shuler led off the Knights’ road game Saturday against Murphy with a solo homer over the left-field fence, giving Robbinsville a boost of momentum before the defense even took the field.
