County slapped with $436K in unbudgeted costs

Robbinsville – Deferred maintenance has come back to haunt Graham County commissioners, who now face the prospect of significant expenses. The county pool is in need of major renovation work, Graham County Recreation Director Ronnie Williams told the Board of Commissioners on March 15.

Beer, wine sales begin next month

Robbinsville – For the first time since the late 1940s, you will be able to buy beer and wine at a Robbinsville grocery store.

Billy Lamar Birchfield Sr., 74 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at his residence. He was a native of Graham County, and the son of the late Ed and Reva Dale Hooper Birchfield.

Richard A. Martin, Jr.

Richard A. Martin Jr., 58 of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy, N.C. He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Richard Martin, Sr. and Evelyn Swanson, and the grandson of Reverend Cliff and Maggie George.

Council getting complaints about dinnertime meetings

Lake Santeetlah – Residents and property owners of the Town of Lake Santeetlah will be surveyed to see if they are happy with the time that their town council meets – 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month. The current board switched the meetings to 5:30 p.m. from daytime meetings.
