Fontana temporarily waves payments

Fontana Dam – One Graham County township has taken a step to ease the economic burden brought onto its residents by the coronavirus pandemic. During the March 18 Town of Fontana Dam meeting, the council unanimously approved a policy to defer water payments for all customers.

Closure extended by six weeks

Another executive order issued by Gov. Roy Cooper on Monday continues to make the future of the 2019-20 school year look bleak. Cooper announced several new business closures as part of Executive Order No. 120, but also extended the closure of all schools in the state through Friday, May 15.

Robbinsville – With the Sunday, March 15 closing of schools across North Carolina came questions from parents and students, and a lack of answers.  Parents became concerned about the well-being of their children, not sure if they would get the education and nutrition that they need.

County clarifies closure of borders

Larry Vance Williams, age 65 of the Yellow Creek Community of Robbinsville, N.C. passed away, Friday, March 13, 2020. He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Needmore and Minnie Byrd Williams.

Lucille Sequoyah Owens, 90, of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was the daughter of the late Ammons and Kina Ledford Sequoyah.

Janet Sue Stewart

Janet Sue Stewart, 75, of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Broadus and Juanita Cook Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her son Boyce Rogers, Jr.

Joe Larry Phillips

Joe Larry Phillips, age 80 of Old Tallulah Road in Robbinsville, N.C. passed away, Monday, March 9, 2020 at his residence. He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Betty Phillips.
