Updated fees coming to Santeetlah

Lake Santeetlah – It might not be the most popular decision, but sometimes adding more fees to a utility can help recoup lost costs. As part of a cordial and productive Town of Lake Santeetlah council meeting Feb.

Council split on leave request

Lake Santeetlah – It was the first time the council had officially met since November. And if the Feb. 2 special called meeting of the Lake Santeetlah Town Council proved anything, it was that even the lengthy layoff could not conjure harmony between members.

Santeetlah council has not met since mid-November

Lake Santeetlah – The Town of Lake Santeetlah Town Council is having a hard time getting together. The council has cancelled every meeting since November, either because of procedural issues, prior commitments, illness, scheduled vacations, or combinations of these.

County rocked by fatal SUV crash into lake

Local man passes away, two survive wreck into Lake Santeetlah

Lake Santeetlah – A Robbinsville man was killed – but two others survived – when an SUV crashed into Lake Santeetlah off Thunderbird Mountain Road early Thursday morning.

2 unhurt when SUV crashes at cemetery

Lake Santeetlah – Two people escaped fairly unscathed after their vehicle skidded off the road, crashed through a guard rail and stop sign, ran down an embankment and knocked down gravestones at Lone Oak Cemetery before crashing into a tree.

Council members squabble over debit card

William Robert (Bob) Allmond

William Robert Allmond, (Bob) 87 of Lake Santeetlah, N.C., went home to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at Murphy Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born in Millen, Ga., on Sept. 27, 1935, the son of the late William Robert Allmond and Annie Allmond Wiggins.

Water leak a teachable moment for Santeetlah

Lake Santeetlah – The town experienced a water line break along Nantahala Terrace over the past month, during which town officials learned about the need to issue “boil water” notifications to water customers affected by the break.

Lake Santeetlah – County Commissioner Dale Wiggins cut the ribbon for a trail re-dedication that he has been working on since 2000. The Santeetlah Lake Trail South is 8.5 miles long, with Carver Cemetery at one end and the intersection of Snowbird and Santeetlah roads at the other.
