Tourism authority discusses upcoming plans

Festival returns after COVID hiatus

Robbinsville – Graham County’s largest festival returned with a bang this year, after a yearlong hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered on Courthouse Square in Robbinsville for the annual Graham County Heritage Festival.

Linda Ditmore

Linda Aldridge Ditmore, 69 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Sunday, June 27, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of Richard and Winona Farley Aldridge.

Chyneer Burchfield

Chyneer Turpin Burchfield, 82 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Saturday, June 29, 2021, at her daughter’s residence in Dalton, Ga. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Frank and Doshia Anderson Turpin.

Connie Williams

Connie Farley Williams, 55 of the Farley Branch Community of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2021, at her residence. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Erskine and Pauline Odom Farley.

Burlin Carpenter

Burlin J. Carpenter, age 86, son of Clay and Mary Farley Carpenter, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at his residence.  He was born Nov. 8, 1934 in Robbinsville, N.C., where he grew up.

Denise Burchfield

Denise Burchfield, 59 of the Cochran’s Creek Community of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the Tribal Medical Center in Cherokee, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Thad and Charlotte Perry Shope.

David Bland

David Parker Bland passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021, in Orgasa Peso, Texas.  He was the son of Worth Livingston Bland and Anne Whitener Bland of Rutherfordton, N.C., and the brother of Sylvia Lovelace, Jo Denton and the late Dot Webster.

Local woman arrested on identity theft charges

A Robbinsville woman was arrested in Jackson County, after allegedly spending more than $2,000 out of another person’s bank account.  Court documents show that 34-year-old Danielli Nichole Adams – who has a listed address of 2719 Massey Branch Road – allegedly stole $2,322.

Man arrested after drugs found in traffic stop

Milltown – A West Buffalo man has been arrested after being caught with drugs, following a June 24 traffic stop. A Graham County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the Long Creek and Milltown area observed a vehicle that appeared to not have a license plate.
