* After an 18-foot, head-first fall, Corey Snider was alive and well. An employee for Robbinsville Custom Molding, Snider was thrown backwards on concrete. He stayed in a coma for four days and after many tests, scans, prayer, faith and the support of Robbinsville citizens, he was able to leave the hospital, with little to no side effects. Battling through brain bleeds and other serious issues, Corey and wife Brittany felt it was God’s grace and prayers of His people that created this miracle. Although, even as doctors felt he would never walk again, Corey walked out of the hospital and continued to heal as if the accident never happened.

* In the last game of their season, the Lady Knights beat Murphy, 55-49. Head Coach Elle King said, “I think the girls played the best they have all year.” King said that she felt it was the team’s defense that deserves credit for the win. “Kadey Phillips had 12 rebounds, Lynsey Crisp had seven and Amber Long had six,” King said. From knocking the Lady Bulldogs out of the volleyball conference tournament, to handing them a loss to start baseball season, the Lady Knights proved they were always contenders, no matter the sport.

* In pursuit of money, would-be thieves ripped through wall paneling and insulation, broke down doors and pushed over a display case. They made a mess of Leah McRae’s Golden Sheers beauty shop, but all that they found was an open cash drawer with a few pennies in it. “We never leave a thief anything but eight or ten pennies,” McRae said. According to deputy Jerry Crisp, Permanent Solutions – also a beauty shop near Jordan Shopping Center – was broken into about the same time. The two beauty shops were just the latest in a string of break-ins. Crisp added that burglar alarms could have prevented the attempted burglaries.

* The junior varsity Lady Knights were fired up and ready to take their victory. As it ended, the Knights topped Blue Ridge, 36-13. Lou Jenkins played an outstanding game, leading the team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kala Matheson pocketed 12 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two assists. Tara Burchfield followed with 11 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. The game would not have been successful without the defensive contributions of their teammates.

* A 1970 Mercury Cougar operated by Mrs. Paul Baker and a tractor-trailer – operated by Glen Williams of Yellow Creek – collided at a main intersection. According to Robbinsville police officer Sam Shope, the driver of the big truck said that he was attempting to make a right-hand turn onto Main Street from the left-hand lane. His rig hit the left fender and bumper of Baker’s vehicle. The investigation is continuing, but no injuries were reported at this time.

* The Robbinsville boys beat Cherokee, 64-58. Tony Howell with 18 points and Randall Phillips with 16 points led the scoring. They were followed by Jacob Jackson with 11 points, Nicky Jenkins with seven points, Larry Williams with six points, Eddie Howell with four, and Phil Orr with 2. The high rebounder for the Black Knights was Howell with 20. Coach Edwards said that Randall Phillips did a good job for defense and hustling throughout the game.
