* A suspicious fire in Stecoah resulted in an arrest of a part-time Graham County resident, 50-year-old Anthony Michalik, in Clayton County, Ga. Sheriff Mickey Anderson said that the blaze destroyed a home on Peace Mountain Road. The fire spread rapidly and sound of explosions were heard by firefighters, prompting investigation by arson experts. Michalik’s wife Patricia escaped, but the family dog was killed in the blaze
* The Lady Knights kicked it up a notch in the conference for round two, as they squared off against Murphy. Senior Katie Williams played the game of her career, scoring 40 points in the shellacking of the bulldogs.

* Town of Lake Santeetlah Mayor Bill Wood contacted The Graham Star soon after the check arrived to replace funds allegedly embezzled by former town clerk Noel Marsh. Residents and town council learned of the $14.886.83 at the town meeting. According to finance officer Jack Henson, the town expects to receive an additional $13,600 from a second bonding company.
* For the first time in the history of Robbinsville High School, the wrestling team won the 1A-2A Western Regional Championship. Wayne Sawyer, Trevor Peterson and Kyle Orr were regional champs. Sterling Crisp and Drew Hill finished second in their weight classes, while Greg Barlow finished fourth.
