* A routine traffic stop resulted in an arrest of a local man. Jeff Brooms was charged with possession of methamphetamine and the assault of a government official, after an argument with Sheriff Russell Moody led to a scuffle between the two.
* Robbinsville hosted the Christ School Greenies of Asheville, in a week-long, mini-football camp. The Greenies had a new coach, which is a good friend of Knights head coach Dee Walsh. They spent the week doing team drills and hanging out. Two-a-days led to a fun, recreational time at the Cheoah Beach, provided by the Black Knights.
Update: Robbinsville played a 3-game series against Christ School between 2016-18.

* Hikers were found after being reported missing by another couple who had been hiking with them. Ray and Joan London were hiking on Big Snowbird with Ed and Sabre Ward of South Pittsburg, Tenn. The couple was located by rescue squad workers John Rattler and Jeremy Odom, between Hooper Bald and Bearpen Gap, in good condition.
* Local winners did well in the Firecracker 5K run, held in Bryson City. The 5K began in Bryson City, ran through the Deep Creek section and finishing on Time Square. Miles Lee took first place in the 16-19 age group, with a time of 17:19 and was second runner-up overall to finish the race. Marshall McClung was the grandmaster winner for age group 50 – with a time of 19:17 – and was the third overall runner. Update: McClung has since retired from the Graham County Rescue Squad and is the historical columnist for The Graham Star.

* Chris Smith – consulting engineer with Hoffman, Butler Association of Asheville – was in Robbinsville, to finalize plans for the new water system for the Robbinsville Homesites Area. The streets serving the project have been recently completed. Consultants with Smith are Tom Carpenter – Chairman of Graham County Rural Development Authority – and Wayne Carringer, Town Alderman.
* The Babe Ruth All-Stars were selected. Robbinsville’s Babe Ruth All-Stars were Gary Lynn, Gilliam Jackson, Jacob Jackson and Mark Manuel. The team was set to defend a state championship.
