10 years ago * A series of winter storms paralyzed Graham County. Up to a foot or more of snow fell during these storms, keeping road crews busy with overtime hours. U.S. 129 South and the parking lot at The Graham Star were clogged with snow before the crews could clear the roads.

10 years ago * A Graham County native accepted the Country Music Award for Radio Station of the Year. Ida Mae Millsaps, known on-air as Nikki Thomas, is the daughter of the late Bill and Wilma Millsaps, and was the director of radio station KATM. Ida Mae lived in Modesto, Calif.
