Columbus – Simply put, there was a lot of competitors at March 16’s District 9 shooting tournament. So for Robbinsville’s Ryan Lynn to emerge from the pack as the top dog is quite the accomplishment.

Cherokee – Things seemed well in-hand for Robbinsville Middle School’s baseball team March 21. Carrying a 9-6 lead into the bottom of the first, the Black Knights were three outs from starting the season 5-0.

Bryson City – It was a game the Black Knights wanted back. Badly.
Civility went out the window late in the March 21 public forum to discuss a potential change of jurisdiction for school resource officers. Chaos at forum

Robbinsville – For almost two hours March 21, the Graham County Board of Education, sheriff’s office and members of the public discussed the change of jurisdiction for school resource officers in a mostly civil matter.

Brush fire quickly controlled

Mill Creek – A resident of the Tallulah community was burning a large brush pile around 5:30 p.m., March 14, when the fire ignited nearby dry material and began to spread.

Who’s next?

Robbinsville – They score early and often; they pepper the field with offense. “They” are Robbinsville Middle’s baseball and softball teams, which are through nine games with a combined 9-0 record.

Explosive innings propel Lady Knights to victory

Robbinsville – Until the bottom of the third, it was anybody’s ballgame. Dissatisfied with the outlook, the Lady Knights brought their bats to life. The end result? A 12-run segment, aided immensely by Dreylee Webster mashing a grand slam and a 2-run dinger from Sophie Roberts.
