Robbinsville – After beginning the season with a victory, the Black Knights are still looking for win No. 2.

Breakin’ stitches

Hayesville – Four home runs and a no-hitter. In a season where Robbinsville has a team average of .420 – while one pitcher has a 1.33 ERA and 50 strikeouts – Monday’s blowout at Hayesville (2-3, 0-3) should come as no surprise.

Lady Knights continue to rake

Tallulah – Much like the varsity squad, the middle school Lady Knights are firing on all cylinders. Robbinsville (3-0) continued its hot start to the season Tuesday, besting Murphy 9-3 at P & J Field. “I am super proud of my girls and how hard they play,” said Knights head coach Anna Stewart.

Errors doom Black Knights

Robbinsville – Stymied by eight errors, the Black Knights were unable to get on a roll Tuesday. Robbinsville (1-3, 0-2) coughed up the ball eight times in the 15-2 home loss to Murphy (4-2, 2-1), in a game where the Knights held an early advantage.

Bryson City – A low shooting percentage and key turnovers proved costly for the Lady Knights on Friday, as they dropped the Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament finals to Murphy, 56-49.

Knights win dogfight

Murphy – In a game that literally came right down to the wire, Robbinsville came out on top. In the final 30 seconds of Tuesday’s varsity-boys clash at Murphy, Donovan Carpenter, Xander Wachacha and Brock Adams each hit key baskets that helped hold off the Bulldogs in a thrilling 68-64 victory.
