The real Black Swarm

Hayesville – Admittedly, there was a lot of hype surrounding Friday’s Smoky Mountain Conference title game in Murphy. So it’s OK if you forgot that Robbinsville played a game just 15 miles away at the exact same time. However, the Knights did not forget.

Black Knights eliminated from conference-title picture

Andrews – For the first time since 2018, there will be a new champion in the Smoky Mountain Conference. Robbinsville made the short pilgrimage to Andrews for a highly-anticipated showdown Friday.

Can you dig it?

Robbinsville – Just two days after her older sister hit a coaching milestone, Kensley Phillips found her own way into the annals of Lady Knights volleyball history. Kadey Phillips recorded her 100th career win as head coach of the Lady Knights at Swain County on Sept. 27. Skip ahead to Sept.

Buzz kills

Robbinsville  – From start to finish, there may not have been a more improved team this season than the junior varsity Black Knights. The gradual increase in performance was capped Sept.

Show up, show out

Murphy – It was a bad night to be a Bulldog. From the opening whistle on Sept. 15, the junior varsity Robbinsville Black Knights dictated control over Murphy, with a mixture of solid rushing and stubborn defense stalling the hosts in a 22-16 triumph.

Tough at the top

Hayesville – The Lady Knights are still the team to beat in the Smoky Mountain Conference. Though the Hayesville Lady Jackets gave Robbinsville a tough road match Sept. 8, the Knights prevailed in a compact 28-26, 25-23, 28-26 sweep.

Breakin’ stitches

Hayesville – Four home runs and a no-hitter. In a season where Robbinsville has a team average of .420 – while one pitcher has a 1.33 ERA and 50 strikeouts – Monday’s blowout at Hayesville (2-3, 0-3) should come as no surprise.
