Ronald “Toby” Key, 71 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his residence. He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Edna Mae Key Woods.

Jack A. Hill, 82 of Knoxville, Tenn. passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his residence. He was a native of Graham County. He was employed by Phillips & Jordan for 47 years until he retired.

Graham County Schools to ask for bigger contribution

Robbinsville – Earlier this year, an auditor advised that Graham County School District has been operating “paycheck to paycheck” and needed an additional $100,000 a year contribution from the county to maintain basic operations. It turns out that estimate was optimistic.

Lake Santeetlah town council tweaks spending plan

Lake Santeetlah – Councilwoman Tina Emerson, who is the Town of Lake Santeetlah’s finance officer, filled in some blanks on April 28, which were left following the first budget workshop a week earlier. The town has many needs and must haves in the upcoming budget.

‘American Idol’ winner to highlight big day

Robbinsville – N.C. Attorney General Josh Stein visited Robbinsville on April 28, formally announcing terms of an opioid settlement with the pharmaceutical industry in a county among the worst in the state affected by illegal narcotics.
