Local man dies after Cherokee County crash

Murphy – A Robbinsville man has died from injuries sustained in a four-vehicle collision on Old Ranger Road in Murphy.  The death of 56-year-old Robbinsville resident Kenneth Blevins was confirmed by the N.C. Highway Patrol. Blevins succumbed to injuries sustained in the Dec. 17 crash at 7:33 a.m.

William Albritton

William Bradford Albritton, age 81 of Andrews, N.C. passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at his residence. William was a native of Auburn, Maine and the son of the late John and Deborah Bradford Albritton. He owned and operated a knife shop, and was a knife grinder by trade.

Peggy Sutton

Peggy Roena Nichols Phillips Sutton, 84 of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020 at her residence.   Peggy was born in Cherokee County, N.C. to the late Frank Thorton and Mary Phillips Nichols.

Virginia Dockery

Virginia Dockery, age 95 of Marble, N.C., passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee, Ga. She was the daughter of the late John Rellie Hall and Betty Elizabeth Ditmore.

Father drowns, son missing in lake

By Penny Ray Cherokee Scout Murphy – A local father drowned last week during a fishing trip with his son, who remains missing as of the Cherokee Scout’s press time Tuesday.  A kayaker found the elder man’s body near the shoreline of Hiwassee Lake around 6:15 p.m. May 7.

Clyde Chapman

Clyde Kent Chapman, Jr., 88 of Andrews, N.C., formerly of Whitney Point, N.Y., went home to be with His Lord on Monday, April 20.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Kent Chapman Sr. and Anna Neal Chapman, and brother, Richard Neal Chapman.
