Driver airlifted after crash

Fontana Dam – At 9:22 p.m. Monday, state troopers Ty Gibbs and Johnathan Jones responded to a crash in the 1500 block of Fontana Dam, on Hwy. 28. The crash involved a 73-year old female, driving a Ford Fiat, who collided into a guardrail, slid across the embankment and overturned.

Fontana Dam – Speed is believed to be the contributing factor to a recreational vehicle crashing April 26, just before the border of Graham/Swain counties on N.C. 28 North. Around 6:34 p.m., a 2007 Ford RV operated by 68-year-old Ronnie Edward Grubke of Conneaut, Okla.
