Eliza L. Simons

Eliza (Liz) L. Simons, 92, of Jacksonville, Fla. – formerly of Robbinsville, N.C. and Fairbury, Ill. – passed away at 7:58 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at her residence in Jacksonville, Fla.  She will be buried in Yellow Creek Cemetery in Robbinsville, N.C. Graveside services are pending.

Glenda Palmer Farley

Glenda Palmer Farley left this planet on Thursday, April 30, 2020.  She leaves behind a loving family and many friends. Gene, her beloved husband, shared a wonderful life with Glenda. And out of that love came Landon, their son. A son who never ceased to amaze and delight each of them.

Spring sports season cancelled

Following the statewide closure of K-12 public schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 year Friday, the N.C. High School Athletic Association quickly made a difficult decision.

Erma Nichols Hallyburton

Erma Nichols Hallyburton passed away Monday, April 20 at the Jesse Helms long term care facility in Monroe, N.C. at the age of 104.  Born in Robbinsville, N.C. in 1916, her father was Harrison Nichols and her mother Faye Jones.

Downtown revitalization not too far away

Robbinsville – Plans to revamp downtown were discussed in the most recent town meeting, which was held via teleconference April 22. Local resident John Colwell – who also works with REVVED UP – was sent by the town to the 40th N.C. Main Street Conference in New Bern from March 10-12.

Robbinsville – The worst fears of faculty and students alike were confirmed Friday, when Gov. Roy Cooper announced the statewide cancellation of the remaining 2019-20 school year. Students were originally set to return to K-12 schools Friday, May 15, which would have ended a two-month closure.

Number of Robbinsville titles is 15, not 14

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, millions of people worldwide are staying isolated to keep themselves and others safe.  However, some employees are considered essential and must still go to work every day.
