‘The Hut’ could relocate to new site

Robbinsville – Efforts to save a local landmark has received a huge amount of traction in recent weeks. Supporters working to preserve “The Hut” – a log cabin that sits on the same property as Robbinsville First Baptist Church – spoke at the Feb.

30 grams of suspected meth seized in raid

Billy Jack Heinzer Robbinsville – Officers struck paydirt Friday, when a 5-month investigation resulted in a large amount of suspected methamphetamine being discovered at a local residence. Around 8:47 p.m.

Robbinsville – For months, Graham County has lacked the availability of local urgent care. A deal announced Monday afternoon hopes to correct the issue – once and for all.

Woman accused of coercing victim

Meadow Branch – A local resident allegedly tried to coerce a victim of sexual abuse during an investigation concerning the crime. Angie Gladden, 55 of a Farley Branch Road address, was arrested shortly after midnight Feb. 13 and charged with one felony count of obstructing justice. Sgt.

Free WiFi can be found downtown

Robbinsville – For years, it has dangled like a carrot. In an effort to connect to a source of internet in downtown Robbinsville, one could easily navigate to their WiFi settings while in the vicinity and see a network deemed “Robbinsville WiFi” readily available.

4 arrested in meth bust

Santeetlah – The Graham County Sheriff’s Office recently took another step forward in its efforts to combat the local drug epidemic. Around 10:45 p.m., Feb. 11, personnel from the office knocked on the door of a residence at 2901 Tapoco Road.

Brush fire stopped close to home

Sweetgum – The Graham County 911 Center received a report of a brush fire on Berts Creek Circle around 2:20 p.m., Feb. 8. The caller stated that the fire had spread into the woods and was growing larger. Firefighters with the Graham and Santeetlah Fire departments, N.C. Forest Service, and U.S.

New intercom system coming to school district

Robbinsville – The safety of students remains a top priority for Graham County Schools. At Feb. 6’s board of education meeting, assistant superintendent Robert Moody provided a promising step toward ensuring consistent safety at both campuses. Thanks to a $300K grant from the N.C.

Aubrey and Blaze Powers have been best friends since she was 7 and he was 9. On Feb. 24, G.D. Phillips and his wife Woody will celebrate their 63rd year of marriage. They were in high school when they met.
