A resident from the upper section of Mountain Creek called the Graham County 911 Center to report a brush fire visible from his home around 7:15 p.m. Monday. Firefighters with the Graham County Fire Department, N.C. Forest Service, and U.S.

As “Shoe the World” National Shoe Day is celebrated tomorrow, over 500 million children, teenagers and adults do not own a single pair of shoes. Many walk barefoot, despite the terrain and climate. They have no protection on their feet.

Robbinsville – After 35 years of helping mold the future, Angie Knight is ready for a lighter schedule. Graham County Schools’ Superintendent announced her retirement at March 5’s board of education meeting, which is effective July 1.

Book drive a huge success

Robbinsville – On Saturday, the Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma held their first meeting of the 2024 year at Robbinsville United Methodist Church. The focus of the meeting was Literacy for Elementary Students; the gathering happened to fall on the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss.

Fontana Dam – After years of searching, the source of a substantial water leak in one county municipality may have finally been discovered. At the Feb. 21 Town of Fontana Dam council meeting, the water plant’s ORC (Operator-in-Responsible-Charge) Carrie Stewart briefed the panel on the discovery.
