Graham County Arrest Report: Jan. 29 – Feb. 5, 2024

The following is a list of arrests made and/or filed by the Graham County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the N.C. Highway Patrol, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and the Cherokee Indian Police Department.

This Day in Star History: Feb. 8, 2024

Feb. 8, 2007 * February came in with a snowstorm, closing schools and causing traffic problems. Snow and ice covered most of the area, leaving some areas with six inches – especially on the Cherohala Skyway. Tractor trailers were stalled in the snow, prompting the N.C.

This Day in Star History: Feb. 1, 2024

Feb. 1, 2001 * Steve Hooper’s seat on the Town of Robbinsville Board of Aldermen was vacated, as Hooper had moved out of the Robbinsville city limits the prior year. An appointment was expected to be considered at the next meeting.

This Day in Star History: Jan. 25, 2024

Jan. 25, 2018 * Bojangles Restaurant closed after five years of serving its “famous fried chicken’n biscuits.” BoCo, LLC, comprised of Eve Davis Whitaker and family, had to make the tough economic decision. Update: The former location is now Caffe de Olla on Tallulah Road.

This Day in Star History: Jan. 18, 2024

Jan. 18, 2007 * Ronnie Underwood, Jr., 18, escaped detainment at the Graham County Sheriff’s Office. After getting roadblocks in place to keep Underwood from leaving the county, a few unsuspecting people were arrested for outstanding warrants.

This Day in Star History: Jan. 11, 2024

Jan. 11, 2001 * According to Graham County Sheriff Steve Odom, the new county policy forbidding parking patrol cars at any officer’s residence would be jeopardizing the safety of officers and residents.
