Robbinsville – It has been nothing short of a contentious stint since Shaun Adams was elected to the Robbinsville Board of Aldermen in 2017. Adams’ recent absence from town meetings – 18 in total, across a 16-month span – came to an end with his return to the June 2 meeting.

Robbinsville – As the Graham County Board of Commissioners approved the county’s budget last week, some citizens are voicing concerns about the need for a pay raise for some of its most crucial workers.

County, Santeetlah pass 2021-22 budgets

Robbinsville – The Graham County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the county’s 2021-22 budget at its regular meeting Tuesday.  The general fund of the 2021-22 budget totaled $18,611,891, with property taxes making up the largest single piece, at just over 35 percent of the general fund.

Statewide broadband bill moves closer to fruition

Raleigh – Another measure to bring better internet to North Carolinians has passed the House in Raleigh and heads next to the Senate.  A $750 million broadband expansion measure for all 100  counties passed the House unanimously on May 26.

Man arrested after attempted assault

A Graham County man was arrested after allegedly attempting to run over a deputy sheriff and attempting to flee the scene.  Jacob Nicholas Franks, 31, allegedly attempted to back over Graham County Deputy Jordan Rogers with a 1968 Ford truck May 27.
