Fontana Village abandons lease

Fontana Dam – The rumor mill is not ready to completely stop turning, but the wind surrounding it has certainly died down.  The owners of Fontana Village Resort & Marina opted in a June 1 meeting with the Tennessee Valley Authority to surrender its lease back to the TVA.

Lavinia M. DeHart

Lavinia M. DeHart, 88 of Almond, N.C., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Icie Greene.

Fannie Hyde

Fannie Hyde, age 86 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at her residence. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Columbus and Lola Farr Anderson.

‘My talking points are not just talking points’

Robbinsville – Madison Cawthorn’s mission statement is simple. “I will not forget my constituents,” Cawthorn said to a crowd of about 40 voters gathered outside the Graham County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.  Early voting begins today for the U.S.

Graham’s case count doubles

The numbers held steady for as long as they could. Following a three-week stalemate, the Graham County Health Department confirmed the third positive case of COVID-19 in the county Saturday. The fourth case was then confirmed Monday afternoon.

Jeannette Sue Teesateskie

Jeannette Sue Rattler Teesateskie, 89, of the Snowbird Community went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 23, 2020.  A native of Snowbird, she was the daughter of the late Cain Saunooke and Lucy Smoker Rattler, and wife of the late Tom Teesateskie.

Virginia Pearlene Beasley

Virginia Pearlene Waldroup Beasley (Pearlene), left Harris Regional Hospital for her heavenly home on Saturday, May 23, 2020.  A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late William Bryant Waldroup and Martha Alice May Waldroup.
