Stecoah – A cloud of mystery still lingers over the annual “An Appalachian Evening” concert series, but one thing is certain: the 2020 installment will take place.

Pair of accidents on Hwy. 129

Two separate accidents in a 2-hour span on U.S. 129 Monday kept local law enforcement and rescue personnel busy for much of the afternoon. Crews were dispatched to the intersection with Grace Tabernacle Road around 2:40 p.m., in response to a man being ejected off a motorcycle.

Smoky Mountain Hydro to conduct aerial spraying of herbicides

Smoky Mountain Hydro LLC has announced that aerial spraying of herbicides will be taking place, beginning on Tuesday and ending Friday, along the following routes: *From the Cheoah powerhouse in Graham County, N.C. to the Calderwood powerhouse in Blount County, Tenn.

Martha Parks

Martha Parks, age 92 of Robbinsville, N.C. passed away Monday, June 29, 2020.  Beloved aunt of Mike (Barbara) Parks, Jane (Randy) Staton, Patrick (Therese) Parks and Joan Parks. Martha spent the majority of her life as a Social Worker, serving the people of Graham and Cherokee counties.

Doris Moore

Doris Moore, 75 of the Lower Stecoah Community near Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was the daughter of the late Condie Thomas and Cora Alice Stepp Scalf.

Guidelines released for graduation

Robbinsville High School announced the protocol for the Class of 2020 commencement exercise, which is set for Saturday, July 18. The ceremony will take place at Modeal Walsh Memorial Stadium, beginning at 10 a.m.

Office pitches body cameras

Robbinsville – At the continued meeting of the Graham County Board of Commissioners on June 25, then-Sheriff Joseph Jones presented a proposal to purchase body cameras for his officers.
