Robbinsville – When Graham County Schools announced its return-to-school plan on July 27, Superintendent Angie Knight stressed that the schedule could be altered. Exactly one week later, the system did just that.

Nellie Stewart

Nellie Hedrick Stewart, 84 of the Mill Creek Circle Community of Robbinsville, N.C. went to her heavenly home, Sunday, July 26, 2020, at her residence. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Leslie and Annie Bell Millsaps Hedrick.

Edith Rowe

Edith Rowe, 78 of Yellow Creek, transitioned peacefully and expectantly to her eternal heavenly home on July 22, 2020.  She was welcomed home by her parents, Needmore and Minnie Williams, brothers Ray, Hank and Larry Williams, and loved ones that went before her.

Huel Millsaps

Huel Crawford Millsaps, 83 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away –  peacefully surrounded by his family – on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, N.C. Huel was known for his kindness to everyone.  He was a loving, devoted husband and father.

Georgia hiker rescued

Cheoah – The Graham County and Stecoah rescue squads were joined by the Monroe County, Tenn. Rescue Squad and members of the U.S. Forest Service on Tuesday, July 21, in response to a 5 p.m. call from a hiker needing assistance in the Slickrock Creek area.

Cases spiking in Graham

Robbinsville – By Graham County’s standards, the number of positive COVID-19 cases has spiked. After sitting idle since June 30 – when the county confirmed just its 10th case – Graham has recorded 10 cases in the last week alone.
