Oliver Richard Messer, 79 of the Beech Creek Community in Robbinsville, N.C., passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Nov. 28, 2020, after a long illness. Richard was born in Gastonia, N.C. on Sept. 4, 1941 to the late Robert Richard Messer and Doris (Stiles) Hollifield of Robbinsville.

Glen Thomas

Glen H. Thomas, 80, went home peacefully Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, to be with his Lord and Savior.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lawton and Bertha Thomas.

Town premieres Christmas light displays for Holiday season

Robbinsville – A new holiday tradition has began, with the purchase and installation of several Christmas light displays, new to this year. Town of Robbinsville Alderman Brian “Taco” Johnson is hoping to expand the town’s collection as finances allow.

EBCI sets up operations center

Robbinsville – The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will be offering services to its own in the shopping center next to Ingles Market in Robbinsville, as it constructs a new tribal complex that will replace the dated facility in the Snowbird community.

Man arrested after chase

Tallulah – A Canton man rode into lots of trouble following a Thanksgiving Day motorcycle chase.  David Scott “Bo” Odom, 51, led Graham County deputies and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Police officers on a 7-mile chase while operating a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Motorcyclist transported following Friday crash

Tapoco – A motorcyclist was flown to a trauma center Friday, following an accident in Graham County on Friday.  The accident occurred early in the afternoon on Hwy. 129, near Tapoco Lodge.
