Tourism office rolls out new maps

Visitors to Graham County will now have a stronger authority on where to go and what to see locally, as the Graham County Travel and Tourism Authority rolls out its new county maps.  Last week, the new county folding maps and  tear off maps premiered.

Town continues fight against mold issues

Robbinsville – More work will soon be put toward the ongoing battle against mold at Robbinsville Town Hall. Mayor Steve Hooper gave an update on the issue at the town’s monthly meeting Jan. 6, which at one point sickened an employee and has been going on for the past several months.

Jason Lequire

Jason Earl Lequire, 39 of the Stecoah Community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 in New Hampshire. He was the son of Kathy Daniels Cody and Danny Cody of the Stecoah Community, and Mackie Lequire of Robbinsville, N.C.

Bruce Kellum

Bruce R. Kellum, 60 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. at his residence. Bruce was truly a Godly man; he walked it and spoke it. Bruce attended Norwich University as a history major.

Town tourism looks at 2021

Robbinsville – Car and motorcycle shows are among the events being considered for 2021. At its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 29, the Robbinsville Tourism Authority discussed possible events for later in 2021, should COVID-19 case numbers drop as more people are vaccinated.

Blaze chars camper

Cheoah – A camper trailer was destroyed and left a total loss following a fire on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020. At approximately 1:45 p.m., Graham County volunteer firefighters were dispatched to a trailer fire in the 110 block of Gregory Hollow Road.

‘I was hungered, and ye gave me meat’

Tallulah – One of Graham County’s most influential charities is calling it quits after aiding countless individuals over the past decade-and-a-half.  The Graham County Emergency Food Pantry held its last distribution day on Wednesday, Dec. 30, ending nearly 16 years of distribution.

Local man charged with robbery

Yellow Creek – A Graham County man remains behind bars after allegedly punching a woman and stealing money from her. According to an arrest warrant, 46-year-old Michael Todd Williams allegedly punched the victim in the head and nose, before taking approximately $100 from her.

Middle school wing gets new price tag

Robbinsville – The cost of building a new wing at Robbinsville Middle School has seen a slight increase. At Tuesday night’s Graham County Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Angie Knight broke down the latest figures, which brings the total cost of construction to $4,681,348.
