Hannah Lee Williams Carringer, 84 of the Farley Branch community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at her residence. She was a native of Graham County, and the daughter of the late Andrew and Janie Burchfield Williams.

National Forest management plans stirs up concern

Tatham Gap – The U.S. Forest Service is developing plans to restore and protect portions of a 16,000-acre swath of land between Robbinsville and Andrews, which has many in Graham County worried.

Work on Moose Branch subdivision set to resume

Robbinsville – With the off-season for construction coming to an end, work is expected to resume on a 13-unit subdivision of affordable housing, off Moose Branch Road. Ground was broken on the Graham County Rural Development Authority’s Moose Branch Subdivision Project in October.

Father arrested after infant death

Robbinsville – A week-long investigation ended with the arrest of a local man. Corbin Lee Nunez, 22, was booked into the Graham County Detention Center on Monday and charged with murder in the death of an 8-month-old female infant.

Advance – The 40th annual N.C. Junior High State Championship belongs to Robbinsville. Chocked full of potential – which still has time to develop – seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade Black Knights traveled to the Rise Indoor Sports Complex on Feb.

Randy James Carpenter

Randy James Carpenter, 52 of the Hares Creek community of Robbinsville, N.C, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. He was a native of Graham County, and the son of Izetta Styles Carpenter and the late Virges Carpenter.

Nantahala Regional Library card will allow statewide access

Robbinsville – It’s a pesky little task, but you’re going to want to renew your library card. Doing so will open up a vast collection of publications from libraries across North Carolina. Nantahala Regional Library will soon begin using a new Integrated Library System to manage its collection.

Brush fires threaten local homes

Robbinsville – Firefighters with the N.C. Forest Service, U.S. Forest Service, and the Graham County Fire Department responded to a brush fire near a home on Five Point Road around 1 p.m. Friday.

Linda Smith Lofty

We regretfully announce the passing of Linda Smith Lofty, 73 of Robbinsville, N.C. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. Linda was surrounded by her family prior to and upon her passing, at Mission Hospital in Asheville N.C. Linda was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother to her family.
