Robert "Steve" Claxton

Robert Stephen (Steve) Claxton, also known as Mustard Seed, 63, of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held at Swain Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.

Sandra Faye Gilbert

Sandra Faye Gilbert Vollmer, 73, died peacefully in her home in Andrews, N.C. on Sept. 11, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Gilbert and her nephew, Richard Buckley Jacques.

Robert C. Rhudy, Jr.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, Robert Cecil Saunders Rhudy, Jr. (Bob) died of complications due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 83. Bob was born in Elkton, Md. on Feb. 19, 1936 to Robert and Daphne Rhudy, and was the oldest of seven children.

Hildred Wiggins

Hildred Lane Wiggins, 90, of the Atoah Community in Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy, N.C. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late W.O. and Ethel Millsaps Lane.

David Freeman

David Steven Freeman entered peaceful rest on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019. A funeral service was held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Sweetgum Baptist Church.  David, better known as “Chico,” was born in Edenton Ga., but lived in Robbinsville, N.C. his entire life.

Sammy Winfrey

   Sammy Winfrey, 80, of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 11, 2019, at UT Medical Center surrounded by family.    He was born Sept. 2, 1938, in Andrews, N.C., to the late John and Bertha Winfrey. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Marvin Satterfield

    Marvin Lee Satterfield, 89, of Robbinsville, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. He was a native of Gaston County, and the son of the late Willard Lee and Annie Jordan Satterfield.

Daniel Roach

   Daniel Garnet Roach, 73, of the Slay Bacon Road community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville, N.C. He was a native of Clay County, and the son of the late Charles Van- Buren Roach and Hattie Emmaline Leatherwood Roach.

Alvin Messer Jr.

   Alvin Eugene Messer Jr., 47, of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his mother, Yong Wol.    He is survived by his children, Bradley Messer and Brailee Messer, both of Winder, Ga.
