Facility ‘confident’ about curbing virus

Tourism spending is up

Recent data released by Visit North Carolina revealed that domestic tourists spent $31,620,000 in Graham County during 2019. The figure is a 7 ½ percent increase from 2018.

Roy Bailey

Roy Bailey, 80 of the Stecoah community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Vergie Bailey. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frankie Farr Bailey; his children, Kim Newman (Kurtis) of Almond, N.

Linda Faye Jones, 69 of Robbinsville, N.C. passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Reva Dale Hooper Birchfield.

T.J. Holland, 44 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at his residence.   He was the son of Tommy and Patricia Long Holland of Robbinsville, N.C.

$1.2 million bringing high-speed to county

A collaborative study by several county entities may finally pay off. Gov. Roy Cooper announced Sept. 4 that a $344,447 broadband grant had been awarded to Bryson City-based SkyWave, Inc. The company also services Graham County.
