Graham County Schools welcomes Erlanger clinic

Robbinsville – Graham County schools students and staff needing several healthcare services now have the option of receiving it on school property.  On Tuesday morning, the ribbon was officially cut on the Erlanger Western Carolina school-based clinic, located at Robbinsville Elementary School.

Skyway crashes result in fatalities

Extra ambulances deployed to county

Graham County EMS is being aided by a few extra pairs of hands in its response to COVID-19. Last week, two extra ambulances – crewed by state paramedics – arrived in the county to help support local EMS providers for up to 30 days.

A magical Knight

Ally Ayers will never forget hearing her name being called Friday night. Especially the moment it all sunk in. “I was very surprised when they announced my name,” said Ayers, who was decreed as Robbinsville High School’s 2021-22 homecoming queen at Modeal Walsh Memorial Stadium.

District-wide mask mandate will continue

Robbinsville – Graham County Schools will continue to require students and teachers to “mask up” for at least another month.  On Tuesday, the Graham County Board of Education voted 3-2 to continue the mask mandate it approved in an emergency meeting on Sept. 1.

James Lewis

James W. Lewis, 86 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away at the Graham Healthcare Facility on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Lola Lovin Lewis; his brothers, Delmas Lewis, Doyle Lewis and Alvin “Hardwood” Lewis; and an infant sister, Marie Lewis.

Bennie Sue Slaughter

Bennie Sue Slaughter, 77 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at her residence. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Lillie Holloway Millsaps.

Robbinsville – The Robbinsville Tourism Authority held its monthly meeting Monday, discussing items such as Trunk or Treat, the Passport to Adventure, and Christmas events: * Two Trunk or Treat events will take place Saturday, Oct. 30.
