Jean Hill Craig, 86 and a native of Robbinsville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at her residence in Deer Park, Texas.  She was born on July 13, 1934 to Thomas and Leayler Hill.

Tourism authority narrows down potential new members

Robbinsville – The Robbinsville Travel and Tourism Authority has taken its next steps in appointing a new member to replace Alderman Shaun Adams, who officially stepped down in January.  At its regular meeting Tuesday, the board narrowed town its top three choices to fill the seat.

DSS director appointed to foster care task force

Graham County Department of Social Services Director Chris Weatherford plans to use his seat on a statewide task force, to help solve the backlog of court dates plaguing the foster care system in western North Carolina and across the sate.  Weatherford announced at the department’s Feb.

Senate weighs occupancy tax

A bill in the North Carolina General Assembly might lead to occupancy taxes being equalized between Graham County’s municipalities and the unincorporated area of the county.

County to receive funds for reopening schools

Graham County has netted some money to help its public schools reopen safely in the wake of COVID-19.  According to a press release from State Rep. Karl Gillespie, R-Franklin, Graham County Schools will receive $1,252,350 from the $1.6 billion allotted by Senate Bill 36.

Neowne Hooper Adams, 101 of the Snowbird Community in Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021 at her residence, after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Belle Lovin Hooper.

Lynda Saunooke, 79 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Nick and Nora Brown Saunooke.
