Huel Millsaps

Huel Crawford Millsaps, 83 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away –  peacefully surrounded by his family – on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, N.C. Huel was known for his kindness to everyone.  He was a loving, devoted husband and father.

Horace Blackwell

Horace E. “HB” Blackwell Jr., 91 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Thursday morning, July 16, 2020. He was a retired master electrician, a loving husband, caring father and often fondly known as the “Grandfather of Upper Cove Road.

Robbinsville – Families and friends socially distanced from others. Temperatures were taken at the entrance gates, and masks were required to sit in the bleachers.

Heads of the class

Robbinsville – Karlyn Matheson and Lexy Daniels lead a Robbinsville High School class unlike any other. The respective valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2020 can hang their graduation caps on a bright future ahead following perhaps the most unpredictable senior year in history.

Martha Parks

Martha Parks, age 92 of Robbinsville, N.C. passed away Monday, June 29, 2020.  Beloved aunt of Mike (Barbara) Parks, Jane (Randy) Staton, Patrick (Therese) Parks and Joan Parks. Martha spent the majority of her life as a Social Worker, serving the people of Graham and Cherokee counties.

Lillie Mae Cape

Lillie Mae Peterson Cape, 80 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Archie (Sr.) and Arbree Owens Peterson.

Gary Gregory, Jr.

Gary C. “Bug” Gregory, Jr., 42 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his residence. He is the son of Deborah Blevins Gregory of Robbinsville, N.C., and the late Gary Gregory.

Guidelines released for graduation

Robbinsville High School announced the protocol for the Class of 2020 commencement exercise, which is set for Saturday, July 18. The ceremony will take place at Modeal Walsh Memorial Stadium, beginning at 10 a.m.
